Dump the Junk

by Joe Christiano

The way to get started is simple: Dump the junk. To have a healthy body, mind, and spirit, three things must go: junk food, laziness, and negative attitudes that destroy your health.

Recently I received an email from a man who had undergone several surgical procedures and then gained about 80 pounds. I couldn’t help but empathize with his feelings of frustration and embarrassment and his plea for help when he asked me, “Where do I start?”

I am asked that same question nearly every time I consult someone regarding their health, weight, energy or aches.

The way to get started is simple: Dump the junk. To have a healthy body, mind, and spirit, three things must go: junk food, laziness, and negative attitudes that destroy your health.

Healthy Start 1: Dump the junk food. Your health does not start from the outside and work its way in, but rather comes from the inside out. Improving your health starts from your invironment—the condition of your colon. When dealing with your colon, apply two primary principles: stop polluting and start cleansing. You can’t expect to have a healthy colon if you don’t first stop polluting it. Then do a colon detoxification and cleansing program twice a year.

To dump the junk food, minimize or rid your diet of fried food, processed food, white flour products, sugary snacks, sodas, dairy, and typical fast foods. Keep them to 10 percent of your total caloric intake. If you have to eat at fast food, choose healthy alternatives like salads and wraps. Medications induce toxicity and interfere with normal colon function. Ideally, you want to minimize or eliminate medications. Drink plenty of water, eat plenty of vegetables and fruits, and add fiber to your diet and exercise to your life daily.

Healthy Start 2: Dump the laziness. You must exercise to improve your health. Exercise cleanses and removes toxins in the lymphatic system, promotes and improves circulation, helps reduce blood pressure, strengthens your immune system, strengthens your heart, improves your breathing capacity, reduces excess body fat, revs your metabolism, reduces arthritic pain, strengthens joints, improves functional age, lowers bad cholesterol (LDL), raises good cholesterol (HDL), and improves performance.

Start walking every day without over-doing it. Breathe deeply from the diaphragm. Increase your distance and improve your time when possible. Start using free weights or weight machines three times a week to build lean muscle. Use a workout video or hire a personal trainer for assistance or motivation. Get involved in recreational sports for fun.

Healthy Start 3: Dump the negative attitude. The attitude you maintain is directly related to your thinking, which will directly affect your health.

Whenever there is a short circuit in the electrical pathways from the brain to your body parts, there will be a negative response. Negative thoughts like hatred, revenge, lust, greed, and anger are directly related to defective thinking.

Defective thinking will cripple your body, mind, and relationships. Manifestations show themselves physically as gallbladder problems, digestive disorders, and acidosis. Defective thinking causes a negative attitude, poor self-image, and lack of confidence, which may lead to eating disorders such as bulimia and anorexia. Spiritually, defective thinking disrupts your peace and joy.

So forgive those who hurt you. Set yourself free. Release the burden. Stop holding them accountable for your pain. Go to that person or call them or at least forgive them from your heart.

Since you are created body, soul, and spirit, consider all three areas if you want balanced health.  PE
