You are the only you that will ever exist, and you have your own
personal persona for generating results. Your task is to discover and define your
formula and best persona for getting the most out of life. What attitudes, intensities,
behaviors, and characteristics generate peak performance for you? Your formula
is like your “zone” where you hit your stride by doing what works
for you.
What is your formula? Find it by taking three steps:
1. Learn from your mistakes. If you approach a situation in a certain manner and make a mistake, you need to take note. Don’t persist in an attitude
or behavior that simply does not work.
2. Learn from your successes. Study your successes with the same
vigor. I don’t believe in luck in life. I believe that what works in your
life works because you make it work: you choose the right attitude and behavior
to generate the right results. By studying your successes, you can then repeat
them.
3. Learn from winners. Consistent winners share a common core of
10 traits and characteristics:
- Vision. They get what they want because they see it, feel it, and experience it in their minds and hearts.
- Strategy. They know what they need to do, when to do it, and in what order. They have a map, flow chart, and time line.
- Passion. They get excited, even energized, about what they are doing. They passionately invest in their journey and goal and thrive on it.
- Truth. They eschew denial, fantasy, or fiction. They “tell it like it is.” They are self-critical, not self-deluding, and hold high but realistic
standards.
- Flexibility. They realize that even the best-laid plans sometimes must be
altered and changed.
- Risk. They take risks; however, they are not reckless. They don’t put themselves or their goals in unnecessary danger. But they try new things.
- Nucleus. They are not lone rangers. They befriend people with skills, talents, and abilities that they lack, and who want them to win.
- Action. They take meaningful, purposeful, directional action. They willingly step up and do.
- Priorities. They set priorities and live and work by them.
- Self-management. They actively manage their mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual health.
Whatever your formula is, you must find it and live it. PE
