Student Life
Life at MUSC MUSC offers a wide variety of opportunities for fun, as well as for learning. Annual events such as the schoolwide spring picnic (known as Alhambra) are eagerly anticipated by the students. The MCBP Program also offers social events, like happy hours and group outings to local sporting events such as Riverdogs baseball, Stingrays hockey, and Battery soccer. MUSC sponsors diverse cultural opportunities, such as evenings of concerts and desserts at beautiful St. Luke's Chapel. The MCBP Program also offers volunteer opportunities for community service projects, such as Habitat for Humanity. In addition, the MUSC Gives Back program organizes many volunteer opportunities for students, both inside and outside of the health-care realm.

A Bit About Charleston Situated on the coast of South Carolina, Charleston is a port city with a rich cultural history. Originally settled by the English in 1670, Charleston resides on a peninsula where the Ashley and Cooper Rivers converge on the sea. Charleston prospered through both the American Revolution and the War of 1812, becoming a vital port for the South. By 1860, Charleston became involved in the battle for state's rights, and by 1861, the first shots of the Civil War were fired by Confederates upon the Union held Fort Sumter. Spared the destruction of General Sherman's march, Charleston is one of the most well preserved cities in America. Surviving wars, earthquakes, and many hurricanes, Charleston continues to be a cultural and economic center in the South.
Recreation MUSC Student Programs offer many intramural sports such as volleyball, basketball, softball, football, and soccer. With access to many beaches and rivers, the coastal community also offers sailing, fishing, kayaking, and canoeing. Other watersports such as waterskiing and jet skiing are other popular pastimes. Being the site of America's first golf course, Charleston offers numerous opportunities to play its many courses. Charleston's ample parks and beaches offer many other recreational opportunities.
