Marine Biomedicine participates in 3 programs which bring undergraduates to Charleston to work in laboratories for approximately 10 weeks each summer.

     National Science Foundation, Research Experience for Undergraduate Students (Grice Marine Lab, College of Charleston)

     MUSC College of Graduate Studies Summer Undergraduate Research Program

Students are provided stipends.  MBES faculty actively mentor these summer undergraduates through a defined research project.  At the end of the summer the students present their research findings in formal presentations to the faculty and fellow students.  This summer undergraduate research experience provides students with an opportunity to gain “hands on” laboratory experience and to interact with current MBES doctoral students.  Some summer undergraduate students subsequently apply to the MBES doctoral program.
