Research:
Dr. Alan Lewitus has a dual position as Research Associate Professor at University of South Carolina and Associate Marine Scientist at South Carolina Department of Natural Resources. He is a phytoplankton ecologist and physiologist, with research interests that include nutrient dynamics, the ecology of harmful algal blooms, microbial food web dynamics, and the role and measurement of phytoplankton pigments. He is currently the director of the South Carolina Algal Ecology Laboratory, http://links.baruch.sc.edu/scael/
