Hiring International Staff

A person accepting an offer of employment with MUSC must have valid immigration status prior to beginning employment. To ensure this, all offer letters sent to foreign nationals should include the phrase “offer is contingent upon obtaining and retaining valid immigration status.” If, as a department, you are unsure of a potential employee’s status please contact Emily Brown, the International Faculty and Staff Coordinator, and she will be happy to review their papers.

Only staff positions that require at least a bachelors degree can be offered to foreign nationals requiring visa sponsorship. Also, the potential hire must have obtained this degree, as well as all other requirements for the job. In general, most staff positions qualify for either an H or TN visa.
