Microsoft Licensing Overview
Important:
If you are a student OR you plan to use the software on a home-based computer - even if the computer was purchased with MUSC/MUHA funds, the software is NOT covered under the MUSC Campus Agreement. You may go to Compusult to buy it there. Even if you do nothing on your home computer but MUSC business, you cannot use the process below; doing so would violate MUSC's Microsoft Campus Agreement.
UPDATE: Student HERO or Ultimate Steal Program
The Student Hero program offers Office Ultimate 2007 to students for $59.95 USD (perpetual license). The student purchases a license to Office Ultimate 2007 and can then either download the bits or receive a DVD (for a small charge). Microsoft Campus Agreement
This agreement covers on-campus workstations ONLY. Software packages available via this agreement are:
- Office Professional for Windows: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and Publisher
- Office for Macintosh Professional: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and VirtualPC
- Windows Operating System Upgrades
To acquire the software:
- Purchase the media from Compusult (cost = $30). Select "Schools and Colleges" to find the media item number.
- Once you have the media, go to the Microsoft Licensing Agreement page; MNA is required
All Other Microsoft Packages
All other Microsoft software is covered by State of South Carolina Select Contract Agreement, Number 7675145. Dell is the agreement's vendor, not Compusult. Click here for the price list.
You can use your department's P-card to purchase software from the Premiere.Dell.com site.
