In order to provide a well-managed wireless network, we have invested in management tools and an infrastructure of standardized equipment that will work together and provide the greatest cost-benefit to MUSC.
MUSC deploys a WLSE for centralized management of the Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). The WLSE, Wireless LAN Solution Engine, is a management tool that monitors radio status, coverage areas, manages AP configurations, IOS upgrades, client status, switch status and much more. Centralized management reduces the management costs, increases service response times, and provides powerful tools to efficiently manage a sprawling network of AP's.
The WLSE management tools complement the existing base of centralized management tools for the Campus LAN/WAN, providing integrated information for monitoring, tracking and troubleshooting. Our management tools monitor the network 24x7.
We also use AirMagnet wireless sniffer technology to detect and diagnose wireless problems by capturing and analyzing radio-transmitted packets. This tool is also helpful in detecting unauthorized (rogue) access points.
