Please Note: Macintosh wireless users (Airport) must sign up for PPP.

This page shows how to connect to MUSC PPP (dial-up) service from a Macintosh Computer running Mac OS 10.3.x Other versions of Mac OS X use a different scheme for connectivity.

You Must:

You Must Not:

  • Be using a DSL or Cable modem (see instructions that came from your ISP)
  • Be using Macintosh OS 9 (find that here)
  • Be using a Macintosh OS configuration below 10.3.x (Panther)

1. Locate the Internet Connect application in the Applications folder of your computer. Double Click to run it.
2.There may be several icons including Summary, and Internal Modem. Some seen here may not be on your computer. Click once on the Internal Modem icon
3. Fill out the configuration information with the information as shown here. Where it reads "Account Name," you put YOUR mna account. Leave the password box blank. Click the Show Modem box.
4. To further add configurations to your modem, click and hold on the drop down configuration: button. Select Edit Configurations...
5. This is the same information you entered on the screen before. You should check the Prompt for password after dialing to make your connections secure. If you leave it checked, anyone that uses your computer at home can dial-in under your name. If you have a modem other than the one shown (56k v.92) then select it from the drop-down list. Click OK and then quit Internet Connect.
6. Notice back at your desktop that a new icon appears in the top right of your screen. It looks like a telephone handset, Click and hold that icon then select "connect." This should begin your modem connection.
