What is an NetID? What was an "MNA"?

MUSC's NetID is the key to online access for many applications on campus, both academic and clinical, including:

This universal account is used for many "Authorization Required" web pages, as well as connecting to campus and various applications from home. The users of these accounts must adhere to the Computer Use Policy (please read this policy before registering for an account).

A complete overview can be found at http://www.musc.edu/infoservices/idam/netid.

How do I apply for an NetID?

1. Faculty or Staff:
You do not "apply" for one at all. As part of an established registration process, such as the hiring process, a "registration authority" will enter your information into the Identity Management system. (If you were not told where to pick up your initial account information, please contact your registration authority.)

If you do not activate your NetID by electronically signing the Security and Confidentiality Agreement within 60 days of account creation it will be disabled.

2. Students: NetID's are automatically assigned when you enroll. You will receive your account information about a month before the semester begins via certified mail. If you accept admission less than one month before the semester begins, your NetID will be created after your matriculation fee has been received and you have been registered for classes. These NetID's will not be sent via certified mail, they are delivered to the Library Service Desk, 4th floor Education Center/Library and may be picked up from there. You must show your MUSC ID badge to get your account.

Students, like faculty and staff, must activate your NetID by electronically signing the Security and Confidentiality Agreement within 60 days of account creation or it will be disabled.

3. Non MUSC Applicants (MUSC Sponsor Required): Your sponsor must contact the appropriate "registration authority" to provision and deliver your NetID. As will all MUSC applicants, you must activate your NetID by electronically signing the Security and Confidentiality Agreement within 60 days of account creation or it will be disabled. .

How do I activate my account?

To activate your NetID, you must review and electronically sign the online Security and Confidentiality Agreement. If you do not perform this critical step your account will NOT be activated. If your account is not activated within 60 days it will be disabled. To activate, go to http://netid.musc.edu. If you need them, you can print these directions.

How do I change my password?

You can change your NetID password on-line any time at: http://netid.musc.edu.

What if I forget my password?

Go to http://netid.musc.edu and press "Forgot Password?". You will be presented with two of the challenge questions you answered during the account activation process. If you cannot remember your answers to these questions, you may go to one of the following locations:

You MUST present your MUSC ID badge when requesting a password change. Password changes will NOT be handled over the phone. Please note: the actual update process runs every 30 minutes, on the hour and the half hour; therefore, when you (re)activate the account, there will be a delay before you can use the account.

What if I forgot where to pick up my password?

You should contact your registration authority, who can tell you the pickup location selected.

What is this account used for?

While all MUSC accounts require registration into the Identity Management system, the NetID user ID and password will not provide access into all systems. The list below contains a few examples of systems which, with proper authority, use the NetID user ID and password.
