Net ID

On 9/24, anyone who has not activated their NetID
will have their MNA,
LYNX and WebApps passwords disabled.
At that point the user will not be
able to access any application that uses their MNA (AuthLDAP or
etc/password) or LYNX (Active Directory) password.

Take me to netid status

The NetID launches access to MUSC resources, including the following:

* Human Resources' MyRecords
* LYNX workstations
* File storage/Homeroom
* IMAP e-mail
* WebApps
* Enrollment Management's WebAdvisor
* PPP/VPN (off-campus access)
* Maintaining www.musc.edu websites
* SunOne Calendar
* FTP
* Library Resources
* Access to many "Authorization Required" web pages

The Parts of a "NetID"
The NetID has two "parts": the user ID itself and an e-mail alias. For someone new to MUSC, the user ID starts with the user's initials, plus some digits as needed for uniqueness (e.g. "gss2"). To avoid confusion, the digits will never start with a "0" or a "1". The e-mail alias follows MUSC's previous convention of a maximum of eight characters, using the user's name as the basis (e.g., spaing@musc.edu).

A user who had a previous affiliation with MUSC will find the NetID and e-mail alias are identical, following MUSC's older account naming convention.

For all users, e-mail aliases can be readily changed; by contrast, the NetID, which is used for accountability, should not be modified.

How Do I Get One?
The process for obtaining a NetID is straightforward. A registration authority enters a new user into the identity management system and selects a password pickup location. After the user picks up the password, she visits the NetID Management Site, follows the directions, and activates the account. The NetID will expire after 60 days if the user does not activate the account.

Please note, a NetID does not provide access to other applications, such as Oacis, SmartStream, PracticePartner, AccessANYware, or GroupWise. After activating a NetID, access to these and other services may be requested by visiting the Account Request Site.
