| | Under-Privileged Tennis Programs: MUSC tennis and Win4Life began a joint venture in January 2002. Win4Life is a non-profit organization started by Leslie Allen, an African-American professional women’s tour player. Over 150 inner city kids have gone through this program. The program focuses on developing life skills while learning the game of tennis. The Win4Life program is sponsored by the Family Circle Tennis Cup and 8 participants are chosen each year to go behind the scenes of this major professional sports event. Participants in this program have been given the opportunity to go to special tennis camps held all over the country as well as go to the U.S. Open to participate in Arthur Ashe Day.
MUSC tennis also provides scholarships to participants in this program. These scholarships enable the child to further their tennis skills by participating in the academy and summer camp programs.
