General Nature of Work:
Performs skilled or supervisory tasks to maintain automotive or ocean vessel equipment or to provide aircraft ground support.
Guidelines for Class Use/Distinguishing Characteristics:
Positions in this class exercise discretion in diagnosing and repairing mechanical problems in motorized equipment.

Repairs and adjusts the main auxiliary engines and related machinery of an ocean vessel.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of fuel handling and aircraft servicing procedures.
Ability to direct, supervise and train personnel.

Knowledge of purchase and supply techniques for automotive equipment.
Skill in the use of testing and measuring instruments.
Knowledge of the safety requirements relating to engine room work on a sea vessel.
Ability to interpret technical service manuals.

Some positions require a commercial driver's license and freon recovery certification.
