Open Enrollment
2004
What's new?
There are significant changes to the State health plan for 2005.
The State Economy plan will no longer be offered and concerned employees
will not be automatically covered under another plan. Employees
covered under the Economy Plan must enroll in another plan during
the annual enrollment period in order to have coverage on January
1, 2005.
It is important that you carefully read the Insurance
Advantage, a newsletter published by the State Office of Employee
Insurance Programs. Review your current benefit statement of coverage
and make your desired changes within the annual enrollment period
of October 1-31, 2004.
A new high deductible health plan (HDHP) called the State Savings
Plan will be offered. Employees who choose the new high deductible
State Savings Plan may also choose to add a Health Savings Account
(HSA). The HSA is a new feature for 2005 and should not be confused
with the MoneyPlus Medical Spending Account (MSA).
We anticipate the new State Savings Plan will adversely affect
the hospital discount program. In all likelihood, the discount plan
as it is now will be significantly altered or eliminated in 2005.
Therefore, it is extremely important that you select a health
plan with the anticipated change to the discount program in mind.
Important Briefings
Employees are encouraged to attend a benefits briefing. The briefings
will be held on the dates indicated below. Changes to your insurance
package may be made at the sessions or in the benefits office in
the month of October.
