There are two dental insurance plans offered through MUSC:
State Dental Plan
Dental Plus Plan
Description of Plan Types
State Dental Plan
Available to all benefits eligible employees. There is no cost
to the employee for this plan. There is a premium for Spouse and/or
child(ren). The focus of the State Dental Plan is to promote prevention
through a reimbursement plan. The yearly maximum is $1,000.00 per person. There are four classes of dental
coverage:
Class I - Preventive Services: 100% of Allowable Charges
Class II - Basic Services: 80% of Allowable Charges with
$25 deductible
Class III - Prosthetics: 50% of Allowable Charges with $25
deductible
Class IV - Orthodontia: 50% of Fee Schedule, $1000 Lifetime
Benefit
Dental Plus is a supplemental plan to provide a higher level of
dental coverage for you and your family. This plan does require
the employee to pay a premium for this additional coverage.
Dental Plus is applied to the level of coverage carried under the State Dental Plan.
Same coverage as carried on State Dental Plan, but with
higher levels
NO additional orthodontia benefits
Allowable charges established at the 90th percentile of
dental charges in SC
Premiums are pre-tax deductions
Combined benefit year maximum benefit is $2000 per person for 2008
