Housing and meals are the responsibility of the individual student.
Summer students from outside the Charleston area have several options.
- Staying with family/friends in the area.
- Each year, we reserve spaces in a new, air conditioned dormitory at the College of Charleston.
These are in double rooms in a two to four bedroom setting. It is a co-ed dormitory, but students will be placed with same gender roommates. These are not hotel type rooms and they provide only the most basic accommodations. Students pay a reduced rate for these rooms to be announced at a later date. Some of the grants funding students provide assistance with housing, some do not. The rate for the housing for the past two years has been $26 per night for the summer. This is subject to change. Limited kitchen facilities are available (small frig, microwave). Linens, pillows, blankets and towels are not provided. Bathrooms are shared and there are no amenities such as telephones, televisions or radios in the rooms; however there you may get a phone in the room for an additional fee. Internet connections are available in each room. Ice machines are not available. Washers and dryers are available. A fee of $65 will be charged for lost or misplaced keys. Keys must be returned upon check out. The dormitory is available during the 10 weeks of the program only.
- Summer sublets are available on a limited basis around Charleston.
MUSC has an Off-Campus Housing office that is happy to assist you with finding available housing in the Charleston area. Once you are accepted to the program you can access this service. Keep in mind that subletting means you will be responsible for the rental amount and utilities.
