Summer Research Programs » SHP » General Information

Purpose: The goal of the program is to introduce students in the health prefessions to biomedical research by allowing them to work during the summer in a research environment under the guidance of an experienced investigator.

Student discussing her researchEligibility: Students in MUSC's Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, Dental Medicine, Pharmacy, Health Professions and the University of South Carolina School of Medicine who are enrolled in a professional graduate program (e.g. MD, PharmD, DMD) are eligible to apply. Students with a grade point average > 2.8 will receive preference. Students with Ph.D. research degrees or extensive research experience are not eligible for this program. Students may participate in this program at any point in their course of study. A student may not hold other MUSC employment during the period of the award. The program is administered through the College of Graduate Studies, Room 102 of the Basic Sciences Building. The host sponsor must have adequate resources to support the proposed student project.

Awards: Students will be awarded a stipend of at least $400/week for 10 to 12 weeks.
