I am a third year Masters of Environmental Studies student, with a concentration in hydrogeology.  I am conducting my thesis on the total water budget of Dixie Plantation in Megget, SC.  My major focus is the transfer of fresh and salt water across the marsh-upland interface, and the implications for pollution transfer if the land were to be developed in the future.  I am working to get other students involved and create a database for all research at the plantation.  The importance of my work is to provide the College of Charleston with a reason to not sell the plantation and keep it in its nearly pristine state.
