Alita Thompson

Hi! I am Alita Thompson. I am a 1990 graduate of Lincoln High School in McClellanville, SC. I now live West of the Ashley. I attended the College of Charleston a brief time before being diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus.After going into remission, I enrolled at Trident Technical College where I received my Associates Degree with the Transferring Option. I went back to the College of Charleston and graduated in May 1999 with a BS in Special Education. I also received my MS from the University of Charleston in the same field. I am currently working at New Endeavors Separate Schools. I work with students who have moderate to severe emotional and/or behavioral disabilities. Some days they are precious as gold, but there are days when you can't get through 1+1. Recently, I've been appointed Science liaison for the middle school. This has been a challenge because I never liked science throughout high school or college. I refuse to let science or anything else become a hurdle that I can't jump. The students are very respondent to my attitude towards science; therefore, they respond well to the science class and together we make it a fun, learning experience.
