PROGRAM NEWS++++
- The
Explorations in Biomedicine Professional Development Fellowship applications
are now available on the APS website.
Explorations in Biomedicine provides professional development
opportunities for middle/high school science teachers and tribal college
faculty who teach Native American students on or near Indian Reservations. This
is the last year of Explorations funding for the summer research program. So,
if a colleague is interested, he/she should apply this year! Because the number
of applications from Montana have dwindled over the years, we are opening this
year's program up to applicants across the US. Please pass along this
information and the URL.

NASA's Space Research web site is a rich resource of news and educational
materials about biological and physical science research. The main address
is http://spaceresearch.nasa.gov .
They publish a quarterly newsletter called "Space Research" which is
available on line at http://spaceresearch.nasa.gov/general_info/spaceresearchnews.html
. The last edition introduces readers to scientists who are going on missions
to the Space Station as well as research geared to helping humans survive on
Mars. You can also sign up for daily email news flashes.
- The
Computers for Learning program
places government surplus computers in classrooms. Schools and educational
nonprofit organizations can register at the CFL website to get matched with
available computer equipment. The program allows federal agencies and private
sector entities to transfer unneeded computers and related equipment to schools
and educational nonprofit organizations, while giving special consideration to
those with the greatest need.
