-
"Touch"-ing news: Here's a nice extension for the "Sense of
Touch" WISE unit. Check out this article about an electronic skin being
developed for robots http://www.bioedonline.org/news/news.cfm?art=1049. While
you're at it take a peek around the BioEd Online web site
(http://www.bioedonline.org/). It has all sorts of features for Biology
teachers including free curriculum and PowerPoint slide presentations that are
linked to NSES.
-
There's an online version of the "Model Organisms" magazine from The
Scientist that we handed out at the Forum. You can also order additional copies
(for a small fee). http://www.the-scientist.com/yr2003/jun/index_030602.html
-
"Selecting Computer-Based High School Science Curricula: A Guide for
Teachers" (http://www.cse.edc.org/products/selectingcomputerbased) is
intended for teachers and other educators confronting the challenge of using
technology to enhance the way they teach science. This free online resource
helps teachers evaluate whether material offered via the Internet or CD-ROM
uses technology to support a sound curriculum.
- A
Case of Red Herrings Book A-1 by Thomas Camilli (Critical Thinking Books and
Software, Pacific Grove, CA) is one of the brain buster books in Marsha's
library. You can access this book and several other titles by searching the
website (http://www.criticalthinking.com/classroom/index.html) using the words
"Red Herring." They have general logic books and science mysteries,
too. Try this site for links to hundreds more brain teasers, puzzles and games.
