SPECT Coupled with rTMS in a Depressed Patient

The images above are preliminary results from an ongoing study investigating the use of rTMS in treatment resistant depression. In the color scheme, blue represents less activity (perfusion of radiotracer) and red represents more (perfusion of radiotracer). The area of superficial stimulation on the left prefrontal area (arrows) is due to the placement of the rTMS magnet. Note the increased activity of the prefrontal area directly under the rTMS magnet as well as in deeper structures.
