| A community health center dedicated
to providing a wide range of primary care and preventive health care
services. Office hours: 8:30 - 5:00, Monday - Friday Dr. Harness admits patients to St. Eugene Medical Center through Dr. Wallace (Dillon Internal Medicine Associates). Dr. Wallace encourages students to round with him. CareSouth Carolina received a grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to bring medical services to Lake View. These services include a full-time physician, a mid-level medical provider, mental health, pharmaceutical assistance and other support services to create better access to primary health care for those living in the community, especially those struggling to access needed medical services because of insurance status and other barriers. |

Students will stay in a house in Dillon owned by the hospital - arrangements made through Pee Dee AHEC (NO PETS, PLEASE). Or students may arrange to stay with nearby family or friends. For security reasons, housing details will be provided to students at orientation. Questions may be directed to Donna Kern, MD (kerndh@musc.edu).
Students will be
notified one week in advance by email to attend the mandatory
clerkship orientation on the first day of the rotation.
In addition to clerkship guidelines and instructions, students will be
issued laptop computers with online capability, printers and PDAs--to
be used as research and learning tools and to produce required
clerkship presentations and documents.
