    University Risk Management's Mission
"The University Risk Management department exists to prevent harm, to protect the assets and the financial resources of MUSC by affirming and assuring compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory codes."

    This will be accomplished through:
    • Evaluating performance of Medical University of South Carolina in reducing occupational injury and illness frequency, and costs associated with injuries.
    • Assuring compliance with all applicable health, safety and environmental laws by MUSC.
    • Monitoring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations affecting MUSC.
    • Analyzing trends in safety performance and reporting observations.
    • Analyzing financial, operational, and compliance related risks to ensure we maintain adequate insurance coverage.
    • Managing potential and actual professionally liability cases with the intent of reducing liability and costs associated with malpractice cases.
    • Educating our faculty, staff and students on occupational safety, professional liability, radiation safety, and all other risk management issues.
    • Facilitating employees returning to work.
