harm, to protect the assets and the financial resources of MUSC
by affirming and assuring compliance with applicable statutory
and regulatory codes."
This will be accomplished through:
• Evaluating performance of Medical University of South
Carolina in reducing occupational injury and illness frequency,
and costs associated with injuries.
• Assuring compliance with all applicable health, safety
and environmental laws by MUSC.
• Monitoring compliance with all health, safety, and environmental
regulations affecting MUSC.
• Analyzing trends in safety performance and reporting
observations.
• Analyzing financial, operational, and compliance related
risks to ensure we maintain adequate insurance coverage.
• Managing potential and actual professionally liability
cases with the intent of reducing liability and costs associated
with malpractice cases.
• Educating our faculty, staff and students on occupational
safety, professional liability, radiation safety, and all other
risk management issues.
• Facilitating employees returning to work.
