With
the generous support of the Mark and Evelyn Trammell Foundation of Atlanta, The
Evelyn Trammell Institute for Voice and Swallowing was established at MUSC in
June of 2000. This is the first center of its kind in South Carolina. The
institute provides a multidisciplinary center for the evaluation,
treatment, and clinical research of laryngeal, voice,
and
swallowing disorders for all ages. In June of 2002, the Institute was
officially opened and dedicated to Mrs. Trammell in a ribbon cutting ceremony.
In addition to appearing
on WCSC's Live 5 News, Medical University of
South Carolina has published a number of articles that tell the story of the
Institute, describe the work we do, and show how our state-of-the-art technology
allows us to be a leader in speech-language pathology, both clinically and in research.
