St. Luke's Chapel / Waring Library / Colcock Hall / Macaulay Dental Museum

Sitting on the site of the former Federal Arsenal of the early 1800's, this historic site was purchased by the MUSC in 1963. The Chapel was built in 1882-1883 for Porter Academy. Built in 1894 as the Porter Academy Library, renamed Waring Library when it was purchased by MUSC, this historic structure houses the rare book collection of the Medical Society of South Carolina established in 1824. Colcock Hall was once the Confederate foundry but later became the first Dental School in South Carolina. The Macaulay Dental Museum, housing a collection of dental antiques and artifacts, was erected in 1975.
