Description
The mission of the
Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHS) program is to prepare health professionals
to be successful in the challenging health care environment and is designed
to fill the gap between one and two-year clinical programs and positions
requiring a bachelor's degree. The BHS program is committed to meeting
the needs of adult learners and gives the student the opportunity to advance
educationally after completion of many entry-level two-year health professional
credentialing programs. The curriculum is designed to develop leadership,
information management, and decision-making skills and BHS courses are
offered in an online
format to accommodate working health professionals statewide, nationally
and internationally. Most BHS Internet courses require an introductory
weekend session in Charleston each semester. These sessions provide for
face-to-face interaction with fellow students and faculty and establish
expectations and a foundation for the courses. Additional electives and
practicum courses allow students the flexibility to design meaningful
educational experiences of value to their specific career goals. Part-time
students generally complete the degree in two years. Full-time students may complete the program in one year.
