Trident Family Medicine Residency Program

Trident Health System is pleased to serve as the institutional sponsor of the Trident Family Medicine Residency Program and the Trident Transitional Residency Program. This partnership continues our pursuit of medical training and research.

Since 1999, the Trident Family Medicine and Transitional Residency Programs have been located on the Trident Medical Center campus and have used Trident Medical Center as the primary hospital for residency training. The residency programs have graduated over 97 family practice physicians who have excelled in both private practices and academic medicine. The goal of the program is to provide the residents in training with the best practices in a community environment.

Trident Health System and our primary and specialty care physicians provide medical expertise in sports medicine, cardiovascular, emergency, pharmacology, evidence-based medicine, geriatrics, community medicine, diabetes, women's health and medical/surgical services.

Trident Health System and our medical staff have committed our efforts toward providing a quality curriculum for the residents training. We recognize that playing a significant part in the development of a physician's medical expertise is a critical component to providing excellent healthcare to the communities we serve.

Trident Health System is comprised of two hospitals - Trident Medical Center and Summerville Medical Center; two diagnostic centers, a free-standing ambulatory surgery center, an eye-surgery center, an occupational health affiliation with Concentra Medical Centers and a full range of medical practices and medical/surgical services.

We look forward to even greater opportunities to work with the residents of this program in an effort to deliver excellent care to patients in the communities we serve.

Sincerely,

Terry J. Gunn, FACHE
