Center for Excellence in Surgical Outcomes
Sponsored by Duke University Medical Center, the
Center for Excellence in Surgical Outcomes contains an Outcome Scales
Repository with the respective references to the original questionnaires.
Whenever available, a full-text reference to the original questionnaire
and/or a review paper about the psychometric properties of the scale
are also presented. Original questionnaires are either linked from
another web site or posted after obtaining permission from the journal
and author. This web site is currently under construction and may
not be completed until early 2004. Ultimately, it will include scales
to measure joint pain, neurological condition, physical disability,
quality of life, and mental health, among many others.

Department of Veterans Affairs - METRIC
The Measurement Excellence and Training Resource
Information Center (METRIC) is a Resource Center within the VA Health
Services Research & Development Service. METRIC has been charged
with improving the overall measurement quality in VA research. Improving
measurement allows researchers to more accurately capture the health,
social and economic condition of the veterans who use the services
of the Veterans Health Administration. Sound and thorough measurement
methods in VA research result in studies that produce reliable data.
Sound data then enables VA organizations to improve the quality of
care for veterans by making evidence-based decisions in the form of
clinical, organizational or system-level modifications.

FACIT - Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness
Therapy
FACIT.org manages the distribution and information
regarding administration, scoring, and interpretation of a range of
questionnaires that measure health-related quality of life for people
with chronic illnesses. Their first questionnaire, The Functional
Assessment of Cancer Therapy -General (FACT-G), was developed and
validated over 10 years ago, and has been used in hundreds of studies
worldwide. Since the publishing of the first FACT-G validation paper
in 1993, they have developed more than 40 questionnaires and translated
some of them into over 45 different languages. While cancer remains
a major focus, they have also developed and translated instruments
for fatigue, treatment satisfaction, spiritual well-being, HIV disease,
multiple sclerosis, and other chronic conditions. The FACIT.org mission
is to promote use and application of these measurements as a means
of improving healthcare for chronic illness.
