The Medical University is now working to build a new, state of the art clinical education facility. The most important benefit the new structure will bring to the college is the space needed to accommodate a larger student body and incorporate new equipment and technologies. This will allow the college to not only optimize its dental training capabilities, but also boost its research and clinical services. Furthermore, it will enable the college to consolidate programs and resource, enhancing both efficiency promoting closer collaboration between researchers, instructors and clinicians. As a result, we will be able to enhance patient care and improve our ability to discover new treatments and cures for dental ailments. When the new facility is complete, the college will be re-named in honor of oral surgeon and MUSC President Emeritus James B. Edwards.
