The core of the Cardiothoracic Research Program is located in the Strom Thurmond Research Building on the campus of the Medical University of South Carolina. These laboratories are staffed by approximately 30 individuals which include MDs, PhDs, DVMs, MD/PhDs, medical and surgical residents, graduate and medical students, undergraduate students, trained research technicians, and a dedicated research administrative staff.
While this research program is multidisciplinary in approach, an integrated and cohesive study of the mechanisms which contribute to heart failure can be achieved since all basic and clinical research activities are contained within this research building. Details on research activities which take place in major portions of this research building can be obtained by directly clicking on the desired area.
