 Description

This elective allows the student to actively participate in the activities of the neurosurgical department. The student works up neurosurgical patients, attends rounds and conferences, and assists in the operating room. They become familiar with such diagnostic techniques as myelography, carotid angiography, CT and MRI scanning of the brain, and is able to observe current research projects in neurosurgery. Students are required to take call one night per week.

  • Exposure to neurosurgical pre and postoperative care
  • Enhancement of neurologic exam techniques
