COLLEGE MISSION
The College of Medicine, as an integral
part of the Medical University of South Carolina, operates to fulfill
the University’s education and research mission in a setting characterized
by appreciation for diversity in learning and teaching styles,
values, interests and abilities. The college provides an environment
for students and residents to discover and learn through educational
experiences in the basic and clinical sciences, and to prepare them
to maintain lifelong excellence in the practice of medicine. In addition,
the college provides programs, for South Carolina physicians,
to promote continuing education.
While a primary mission of the college
is the education of physicians to serve South Carolina residents,
there is a national responsibility to advance the health of
all Americans through education and research.
- The college is dedicated to the conduct
of basic and clinical research, extending the boundaries of biomedical
knowledge to benefit all people.
- The college serves as a source of high
quality, specialized medical services for the citizens of South Carolina
and the region through members of its faculty.
- The college is committed to the expansion
of its resources to meet its mission through federal, state, industrial,
clinical and philanthropic sources.
