for one week at a time. Each week they will thus rotate into the
next clinic. During the week the particular resident in the clinic

with mentorship by a resident or attending physician.
2. Observation of ophthalmology surgery with mentorship by a resident
or attending physician.
3. Observation of an ophthalmology consultation on the wards or
emergency department with mentorship by a resident or attending
physician.
.
4. Attendance at the Medical Student Basic Science Lecture which
are held at noon on Wednesdays and at department grand rounds.
5. Completion of required reading: Basic Ophthalmology for Medical
Students and Primary Care Residents, 8th Edition, Editor: Cynthia

(i.e, 2 pediatric ear infections, 2 adult migraine headaches):
1. 1 cataract patient.
2. 1 glaucoma patient.
3. 1 diabetes patient.
4. 1 strabismus patient.

EVALUATION AND FEEDBACK:
Students on this rotation will be evaluated through the following
methods, and designate by whom for each method:
1. Direct observation of clinical
and patient care skills by the attending physician and residents.
2. Completion of a 40 item multiple choice question quiz at the
end of the rotation.
3. Attendance as documented in a daily log of clinic/surgery/patients
seen.
4. Adequate screening of 1 patient in general clinic per the protocol
given as evaluated by the general ophthalmology team.
Please outline when and
how the learners will receive feedback on their performance:
Learners will receive feedback on their clinical performance verbally
following clinics and surgeries. The quiz will be graded and reviewed
with the first year resident in the general ophthalmology clinic.
The patient screening performed will be evaluated by the general
