OVERVIEW The goal of Internship 101 is to provide the 4th year medical student with experiences and information that will better prepare the student for the role of intern. The course includes a compendium of topics presented in a variety of formats (e.g., workshops, lectures, simulations, and clinical experiences) and has been designed to increase confidence and skill levels for the transition from student to resident. Students select from among 45 sessions which are organized into four categories: Advocacy, Business/Finance, Clinical, and Non-clinical skills. MDCOR-626 (INTERNSHIP 101) Internship 101, a two week elective, is offered two times during the year: Course Period 1 (March 3 – 14) and Course Period 2 (March 31 – April 11). Students who register for Internship 101 have the option of scheduling one or both course periods. Prior to registering, students are advised to view the offerings and schedules for both course periods as not all sessions are offered for both course periods. Each student must complete 21 hours of instruction during each two week period in order to earn 2.5 credit hours and a grade of “Pass”. PARTICIPATING IN INTERNSHIP 101 SESSIONS – NOT REGISTERED FOR MDCOR-626 Students who have other electives/cores scheduled during the two blocks and would like to attend one or more of the mini-courses, will be allowed to do so upon the close of registration for Internship 101. If this applies, the link below, Select mini-courses (not registered for Internship 101), will direct you to the appropriate site for registering as an “outside participant”.
