Out-of-State Students

The MUSC College of Health Professions, while a state-supported academic institution, encourages applications from out-of-state students. We do give preference to South Carolina residents, however, there are no pre-determined quotas or certain number of positions held for only in-state applicants.

We strongly believe it is our mission to educate future health professionals for not only South Carolina, but also for the region and the country. Also, we believe students from other geographic areas bring different backgrounds and life experiences to our college, which adds to the educational experience for our entire college family.

It has been our experience that many of our students qualify for in-state status in their second year of attendance. Please keep this in mind as you review the tuition schedule.

For more information about South Carolina residency requirements, refer to the MUSC Office of Enrollment Management  http://www.musc.edu/em/records/residency.html. To directly download a "Petition for South Carolina Residency" form, click here.
