Installing Mulberry
Double click the MUSC Mulberry Installer icon to get started
Follow the normal Macintosh installation process
You will see a:
- Mulberry "splash" screen with information about the company - Click Continue
- License notification. Read this - Click Accept
- Change History - Click Continue
- Main Installation Screen - Click Install
- Installation progress bar - do nothing
- Request to install a U.S. Dictionary - Click Yes
- Request to install a U.K. Dictionary - Click No
- End of installation Notification - Click Quit
Starting Mulberry

Open the Mulberryffolder and double click on Mulberry:
You will see the Mulberry "splash" screen
followed by the Login screen (pictured below)

- At User ID: enter your MUSC Network Account name
- At Password: enter your MUSC Network Account password
- Click OK

Your INBOX window may be entirely blank if you haven't received mail there yet. In the example above, the different styles and colors of e-mail represent actions you have taken on your mail. For Example:
- Blue represents e-mail you have not yet Read
- Red represents e-mail you have read and marked as Important
- Green represents e-mail you have read and replied to
- Black type represents e-mail you have read and taken no further action on
- Underlined black type represents e-mail that has more than one recipient
- Red Strikethrough represents e-mail you have deleted but is not expunged

All items on this bar line are configurable. To change an item, hold down the Command key and click on that item. A popup list allows you to change any item. To see what each item is, hold down the Command key and click on it. For Example:

There is a lot of information about the status of your e-mail in the IMAP Server Information Window. Logout Button - If you are connected to the IMAP Server, you will see Logout. If you are disconnected, you will see Login.
The Details button gives you information on the kind of server, you license number, etc.
The status line shows
- State of e-mail - The green box shows that you are connected
- Favorites - The check mark in the second column marks your INBOX as one to check for new mail at the time interval you set in preferences
- Name - Shows the name of the Folder (or directory) that you have created to store your mail. Some are created for you at installation time.
- Total e-mail messages - How many messages are in your INBOX
- Total number of New Messages - How many of those messages are New
- Total number of Unseen Messages - How many of those messages are Unseen
All of these are configurable by Command-clicking (as explained above)

To read a message, double click on it.

Reading an e-mail message in Mulberry
Most of the information you see is common to all e-mail programs:
- Up and down triangles navigate from one message to the next
- Trash can icon deletes message
- file drawer icon copies the message (see below)
- Reply
- Forward
- Parts - This is where you'll find any attachments. If parts = 1, there
are no attachments
Header
icon - right after Parts. This shows all of the e-mail header information.
Something you usually don't want to do.
- Formatted - You can receive mail in three different ways:
- formatted - allows styled text such as bold, underlined, italic, colors, and different point sizes
- plain text - allows no styled text and ignores any markup (such as html)
- raw text - allows no styled text, but keeps any html markup. (useful
for saving e-mail messages as html to read with a browser).
- Copy to: - This is a popup button that will let you select any of your
mail folders to copy the text of this message to.

file - clicking this file drawer icon actually copies the message into the
mail folder you selected above
Sending E-mail

Creating a new e-mail message in Mulberry
From any screen in Mulberry, you can choose to create a new e-mail message by going under the File Menu and selecting New Message. If you have a name highlighted in your address book or in the LDAP Server, that name will be placed in the TO: field. If you have more than one name highlighted, they will all be placed in the TO: field.

- Copy to: - a popup list of all of your mail folders. You can choose to
send a copy of the message to one of these folders

File Folder Icon - copy the message to the chosen folder now
- Also copy original message - Copies the replied-to message to the Copy to: folder
- Parts - This is where you'll see any attachments you have added. If parts = 1, there are no attachments
- Text popup - This is a little different from the read mail popup. There
are three choices:
- Plain - simple, unadorned text
- Enriched - Bold, underlined, italic, color, font sizes
- HTML - allows you to compose e-mail messages in HyperText Markup Language
to be read by a WWW browser
- Identity: Lets you choose an identity that you have set up in your preferences
Signature
Icon - Inserts your signature at the current line of text
