invite golfers to attend the Inaugural Commonwealth Cares Classic Golf
Invitational Tuesday, May 13. This tournament will be held on the Rees
Jones Ralston Creek Course, which is part of Daniel Island
Country Club.
The event kicks off with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The registration

community physicians, including those practicing at MUSC, volunteer as
medical advisors. Services provided include primary care, gynecology,

Newborn Immunization
Information Campaign started
Newborn immunization packets (English and Spanish) are being
distributed to all parents of newborns. The staff at the MUSC newborn
nurseries (levels 1 and 2) and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU),
has received childhood immunization information kits to give to new
parents as part of a formalized communitywide system for educating new
parents on immunization requirements.
A project of the Tri-county Immunization Coalition of the Palmetto
Project, the packets are supported by funding from Sanofi Pasteur,
Coastal Community Foundation, Charleston County Medical Society, Grace
Episcopal Church Outreach Committee and the Joanna Foundation.
New parents will receive a packet of useful, readable immunization
educational material along with new baby instructions by a nurse. The
packet of information includes a list of local clinics (including
address, phone number and clinic hours), the contact information for
the Medical Society’s Medical Homes Project in case the parent does not
have a health care provider and the recommended immunization schedule.
Other material includes a brochure from the Immunization Action
Coalition on questions parents ask about baby shots, as well as a
refrigerator magnet with the timetable for shots.
For information contact Nancy Olsen at nolson@palmettoproject.org
