Letters
to Dr. Greenberg
Since becoming president, I (we) have received many letters commending
our faculty and staff for outstanding patient care. These letters, or excerpts
from letters, from patients and their families provide ample evidence of
their high regard for our clinical services. I am pleased to share some
of them with you, and recognize those who are providing skilled and compassionate
care.
Dear Dr. Greenberg:
I am writing to tell you about my experience with the labor and delivery
staff the night of May 28.
I gave birth to my first baby—a dream come true. My entire stay and
care at MUSC was amazing and wonderful, and I truly get tears in my eyes
when my husband and I talk about that night and the people who took care
of me. I wanted you to know about them since they are all heroes to us,
and we will remember them the rest of our lives. They are: Drs. Grant Miller,
Patrick Williams, Jamey Carter; and nurses Amy Calhoun and Cindy Fabien.
Deane, a medical student, was great too.
MUSC is a very lucky to have these kind, compassionate and talented
people.
Dear Dr. Greenberg:
I would like to take this opportunity to let you know how well I was
treated at your hospital. The entire time I was in the emergency room,
Mark Martin and Dr. Tunney were by my side. These two gentlemen really
put me at ease.
I would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses on the ninth floor,
especially Dr. Weems Pennington, who constantly checked on me.
Dear Dr. Greenberg:
This is to express my most sincere appreciation and my congratulations
to you for having in your staff the team of Dr. Lisa Baron, chief of the
mammography section of Radiology; Mattie Engleman, supervisor; Tina Canaday,
administrative support specialist; and Estemme Mungin, technologist.
I had to ask for their services a week ago and their very professional
attitude, compassion and obviously magnificent technical proficiency, were
of the highest quality. All this was extremely positive to me and made
my experience as a patient a gratifying one filled with admiration and
gratitude towards them. In my mind it is the treasure of this kind of people
that truly constitutes the real core and worth of any institution.
Please accept my heartfelt thanks to you, to them and to MUSC.
Dear Dr. Greenberg:
This is to express my appreciation for the caring and professional
care I recently received from Dr. John M. Kratz. Dr. Kratz answered all
my questions and addressed all my concerns regarding my pacemaker.
Dr. Kratz's fine professional service is sincerely appreciated.
Dear Dr. Greenberg:
As president of MUSC you should know about Dr. Anna Senseney.
As my mother died an unavoidable death, Dr. Senseney was caring, available
and very observant to each lab value, change in condition and need my mother
experienced. You're very lucky to have her. We were glad she was here at
MUSC for mom.
Dear Dr. Greenberg:
I must take this opportunity to tell you of the wonderful, professional
care my husband received at MUSC. The concern for him and the manner of
each one was excellent. All of this contributed greatly to his improvement
daily. Dr. Fred Crawford and his staff were so attentive and all the personnel
on the floor made his stay a very pleasant experience. I'm proud that I'm
a native and feel great that our state has such a fine institution as MUSC.
Dear Dr. Greenberg:
My wife and I want to express our deep appreciation for the superb
care we continue to receive from Dr. David Garr at the Family Practice
Clinic.
Dr. Garr's care is characterized by genuine concern, caring and follow-up
by either himself or one of his staff.
It is most comforting at our ages of 74 and 75 that we have a world
class physician like Dr. Garr caring for us. We both owe our continuing
good health and active life style to his care.
MUSC staff:
It is with sincere and heartfelt tenderness that we say thank you to
each and every person who professionally yet gently cared for our loved
one, Mayor Martin C. Cheatham. From the day he entered MUSC, we knew he
was in the right place. Your weeks of hard work and dedication, along with
your human and endearing compassion for him and for his family, will forever
be etched in our hearts.
We thank God for your commitment to healing. And we want you to know
that although Mayor Cheatham's healing was not to be an earthly one, we
believe that you participated in a greater healing, one that has placed
him in the hands of the Almighty, forever at peace. Our police chief gently
explained that he is a “risen officer” who is looking down on all of you
with thanksgiving for the care you provided. He would have been proud to
know you; and in our hearts, we know he believes you did your best.
Thank you to Drs. Doug Norcross, Mitch Siegan, Scott Reeves, Ross Rames,
Bob Defoor, the Critical Care team, Respiratory Therapy, STICU staff, Vanessa
and Beth in the ICU waiting room staff and Caroline Davila with Public
Relations.
