Preparing for Hanna

Engineering
& Facilities employees begin filling 2,000 40-pound bags of sand
early Sept. 2 in preparation for the arrival of Hanna. Tom Thurman,
grounds manager, said that 25 workers will distribute the sandbags to
critical and vulnerable areas around campus. After the storm passes and
many of the streets likely will be flooded, Thurman said that
wader-clad workers will be deployed to areas such as Cannon and
President streets to assure safe passage for ambulance and health care
workers.
