Geography

Students work together to plot sites for image selection.The targeted sites could include deserts, rain forests, ocean currents, or coral reefs. The sites can also be selected by general areas such as Australia, Africa, South America, or the Bahamas. Students apply many geography skills to develop projects, select sites and analyze the images.

Students use computers to determine the location of the space shuttle and predict weather before they notify the astronauts to take photos. Student proficiency in determining longitude and latitude become extremely important in plotting sites and locating the space shuttle.

 

 

Students must use atlases and physical maps to help identify the photos taken from space, pinpoint exact locations, and annotate the images.
