One new tool that may help is the Microsoft Terra Server Web Site http://www.terraserver.microsoft.com/default.htm. This huge database of aerial and space (Russian spy satellite) images covers over 40% of the United States. Here you will find familiar places like Disney World and, with luck, your own community.

Disney World is an excellent starting point:
• It is familiar to many students
• It has distinctive structures and complex roads and waterways in a small area
• There are color maps of the site drawn from an “aerial” perspective (download from the web or search your souvenir drawer)
