Although subject to change from local weather conditions, the presence or lack of clouds may be a clue to a region’s climate.
Up to three fourths of the Earth will be covered by some cloudiness at any given time. Any place on Earth can have a clear day sometimes, even Charleston. In the desert you get a clear day every day. Here in the Atacama Desert, all of the clouds stop at the shoreline. This is a pattern seen with many coastal deserts especially in the presence of an offshore cold current.
