STS-91 SEM Module

Control Sample Processing

An important component of the Space Experiment Module BEST experiment process is the processing of the radiation, thermal, and gravity control samples. It has also proven to be a valuable lesson in scientific method and laboratory procedures for the students that perform the procedure. In order to extend this opportunity to as many students as possible, we are limiting the groups to six students at a time. Groups will be selected first come, first served based on the receipt of this registration. Each group must be accompanied by at least two adults and must be prepared to conduct themselves in a manner appropriate to a medical laboratory environment. The experiments will be conducted in a completely safe manner using appropriate safety procedures and equipment, but there are real hazards in any lab if students are unruly or inattentive to instructions. Any unsafe or inappropriate behavior will result in an immediate termination of that group’s participation.

The experiments will be conducted between April 19 -  May 17
