From McLeod's Restaurant in Warrnambool
We found Australian foods to be quite interesting. Although some team members craved fast food, we tried to sample Australian specialties. For example, Jim selected a tasty order of "Lamb's fry and Bacon" for breakfast. This was really kidneys and bacon in a rich brown gravy. Another morning he ordered spaghetti on toast. One evening after watching the fairy penguins swim ashore and find their nests, we found a great seafood restaurant, . Our curiosity was peaked by the flaky fish platter on Phillip Island (it was really thin, marinated shark fillets). When we were starving after a long day's work preparing for flight aboard the Kuiper, we ordered (beef) and legs. At McLeod's we found familiar foods like omelettes, Bar-B-Q chicken, fillets of flounder and whiting, grills of pork chops and sausages. When you're traveling, its always interesting to see the variety of foods and then try to calculate the cost. So....here's a problem. Select a meal and calculate its cost. The exchange rate for American and Australian dollars changes daily. A typical rate for us was: 1 American dollar = $ 1.25 in Australian dollars. In Australia there were no taxes on food and tipping was not expected.
