Located on the second floor of the Education Center/Library building, the Center for Academic Excellence offers resources to the Medical University community to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and skills.  The Center for Academic Excellence offers supplemental small-group instruction, workshops in study skills, and one-on-one appointments in test taking skills and time management.

Learning first

It really is that simple. The goal of the Center for Academic Excellence is to put learning first -- not teaching, not research, not academic politics, but learning. By offering support and resources, the Center strives to help students, faculty, and staff become successful and lifelong learners in all areas of health care.

For students
 
The Center for Academic Excellence provides specialists and tutors to enhance your learning process and ensure academic success.  Whether you need help with biochemistry, gross anatomy, pathophysiology, or any other course, the CAE staff can help.  Individual faculty assist in discovering your own learning style and offer test-taking and study strategies for success in all MUSC courses.  Supplemental instructors provide tutoring in small-group settings, and we also offer sessions to prepare advanced students for their professional certifying exams.

For faculty
 
The faculty of the Center are available to discuss syllabi, assignments, and teaching strategies.  Staff can collaborate with you to plan workshops for your classes, and faculty are available for class presentations on such topics as scientific research papers and documentation. The staff will schedule group meetings on special-interest teaching topics.   

For staff
 
The Center is an excellent resource, offering individual consultations on any learning or writing project in which you are involved.  We create solutions to problems with writing or learning that staff may have in the workplace. We will design special workshops for small groups. Working with Human Resources, we offer staff development workshops on work-related topics.
