Undergraduate Programs
The College of Nursing offers a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.S.N.) degree, with an upper division major in nursing. The program has three tracks: Accelerated B.S.N., Accelerated B.S.N./M.S.N., and the On-line R.N.-B.S.N. The Accelerated B.S.N./M.S.N. program prepares students for initial licensure as a registered nurse. The On-line R.N.-B.S.N. track offers registered nurses with an associate degree in nursing or diploma in nursing an opportunity to earn a B.S.N. The Accelerated B.S.N. and Accelerated B.S.N./M.S.N. tracks are web-enhanced with some course completely on-line. The R.N.-B.S.N. is offered online only.

The nursing major focuses on the knowledge, values, and skills needed for professional nursing practice. Students gain experience with individuals of all ages, as well as with families and communities in a wide variety of clinical settings. Clinical experiences reflect the complex and diverse nature of today’s complex health care system. Leadership abilities for managing nursing care in hospitals and other health care settings are developed. Current ethical, legal, social, and political issues affecting nursing practice and health care are studied and the value of nursing research for professional practice is emphasized. The program provides a foundation for graduate study in nursing.
