Certificate in Health Management
Andrea W. White, Ph.D., coordinator.

The Certificate in Health Management program offered by the Medical University of South Carolina’s Department of Health Administration and Policy (DHAP) is designed to meet the needs of those students pursuing Masters of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree at the Francis Marion University and the Citadel who wish to enter careers in, or related to, health management. The purpose of the program is to enable students enrolled in these M.B.A. programs to establish a specialized option in health management from the faculty of a nationally accredited program in health administration.

The courses are delivered to students via the Executive MHA Program. MUSC delivers the program. Students receive certificates from MUSC upon completion of these courses with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 in the fifteen hour block of courses and upon receipt of the M.B.A. from their respective institution.

Certificate in Health Management Admission Requirements
Students admitted to the Certificate in Health Management program must be degree seeking, fully admitted students in the M.B.A. program at Francis Marion or the Citadel. In addition they must submit a GMAT or GRE score and express in writing an interest in a health care career. To obtain an application and information about participating consortium programs, contact the Department of Health Administration, MUSC, or visit our Internet home page http://www.musc.edu/hap/.

Certificate in Health Management Curriculum
The program consists of five courses (a total of 15 semester hours) currently offered within the existing Executive Master of Health Administration (MHA) program. These courses establish a solid content foundation in health management for students in business oriented roles within health care systems. Certificate students join Executive MHA students and faculty by taking these courses primarily on-line with some on campus instruction (four-day session once a semester)
