Beeks, M.H.A., Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration Introduction Established in 1966 as the School of Allied Health Sciences, the present College of Health Professions is the largest of the six professional colleges on the Medical University of South Carolina campus. Approximately 750 full- and part-time students enroll in baccalaureate and graduate health professional curricula each year. Program diversity is the landmark of the college, offering a variety of entry-level programs providing opportunities in health management professions, patient treatment professions, and patient contact professions involving sophisticated cutting-edge medical technology. In addition, the college offers both on- and off-campus programs designed to prepare already credentialed health professionals for advanced clinical, or administrative roles. The college is dedicated to graduating health professionals who will not only excel in the provision of healthcare, but provide leadership in the changing healthcare environment. Mission Statement The college serves the citizens of South Carolina, the region, and the nation by providing an environment for learning and discovery through education of health care professionals, applied research in the health and administrative sciences, and provision of health care services. Through its campus-based and outreach initiatives, and its commitment to diversity, the college serves as a resource for citizens throughout South Carolina. It strives to improve the delivery of quality health care to a diverse population through: interdisciplinary, entry-level, graduate, and continuing professional education; applied research; consultation; and provision of direct services.
