Department of Clinical Services
The Department consists of four degree granting programs in the College of Health Professions.

The Cardiovascular Perfusion Program offers a Bachelor of Science degree and trains perfusionists who operate the heart-lung machine during open heart surgery. The program is a unique balance of clinical experiences and research.  The MUSC Cardiovascular Perfusion Program is accredited by the Commission of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Accreditation Committee for Perfusion Education (ACPE).

The Anesthesia for Nurses program is a twenty-eight month course of study leading to a Mater of Science degree in Nurse Anesthesia. This program includes a 12-month didactic component conducted at Medical University of South Carolina and a clinical anesthesia component to be carried out at local and regional hospitals.  The program is fully accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Programs.

The Physician Assistant (PA) Program established in 1994 is the only PA program in South Carolina. The University instituted the program to help meet the diverse health care needs of South Carolina. The students are awarded a Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) degree upon completion of the program’s academic requirements. The MUSC Physician Assistant Program is fully accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant Education (ARC-PA).

The Cytology and Biosciences Program offers a Masters degree and is accredited by the American Society of Cytopathology. The Program offers students a unique educational experience combining traditional teaching/learning styles and technology-based teaching/learning styles. Students learn the fundamentals of cytotechnology training, new molecular techniques, as well as the research skills provided through the research initiatives of the Center for Cytopathology and Molecular Diagnostics, which is housed within the education program. The education program has been designated a Center of Excellence by the American Society of Cytopathology.
